do we need to buy the guild wars ch.2 for our old guild wars is it an expannsion?

To answer, You will need to have bought and installed Chapter 1 to play Chapter 2 of Guild Wars. This is because Chapter 2 is an expansion and not a completely different game - it's not Guild Wars 2.
